Poverty - as described by Marcus Mosiah Garvey
An important quote from one of the 20th century's greatest philosophers - Jamaica's own National Hero - Marcus Mosiah Garvey
Thank you, Joseph Cox - for sharing on Facebook:

"Poverty is a hellish state to be in.
It is no virtue.
It is a crime.
To be poor is
to be hungry without possible hope of food;
to be sick without hope of medicine;
to be tired and sleepy without a place to lay one's head;
to be naked without the hope of clothing;
to be despised and comfortless.
To be poor is to be a fit subject for crime and hell." - Marcus Garvey.

ReplyDeleteCan I get these photographs to use in a commercial for my charity? Please advise
ReplyDeletePlease can you inform me as to whom I would need to speak to in terms of using these photographs for a commercial we are planning to produce on poverty in Jamaica?
ReplyDeleteTook these photos from the web - when I googled 'poverty' - think they were UN related websites
DeleteTo understand poverty and the subject of poverty, without having experienced poverty, requires the gripping story of one who has; Marcus Garvey, who is not was not far from such a story, is the best author(ity)on the 'Ills of Poverty'. Best summed up in these revelatory words, is the understanding of poverty.
