Kingston, Jamaica—Monday, November 18, 2013: Usain Bolt and Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce are on top of the world and telecommunications sponsor, Digicel couldn't be more proud. Following the announcement that Usain and Shelly-Ann are the IAAF World Athletes of the Year 2013, the telecommunications provider has congratulated them both.
Digicel CEO, Barry O'Brien said, "The entire Digicel family is today exceedingly proud of both our track and field Brand Ambassadors, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Usain Bolt for winning the prestigious awards for Athlete of the Year by the IAAF."
Continuing O'Brien said, "We are not in the least surprised about this announcement especially after seeing how they both dominated this year's IAAF World Championships in Moscow earlier this year with gold medals in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m races."
Usain, who has been with the Digicel family since 2003, not only won in Moscow but also had the fastest legal times of the year at 100 and 200 in a campaign where he lost only once. Shelly-Ann, who joined the Digicel team in 2008, won the Diamond League in both the 100 and 200 and ended 2013 with the fastest times in both events.
