Starbucks peppermint chocolate and a good book while I wait for opening of 'These Shining Lives' in Silver Spring.
It's a play by Melanie Marnich about women in an Illinois US watch factory in the 1930s who were poisoned by the radium-infused paint they used to put numbers on the faces of the time pieces. Catherine Wolfe Donohue won her case against the Radium Dial Company after 6 appeals. Sadly, she died less than a month after. Hundreds of fellow workers in the company's Illinois, New Jersey and Connecticut plant also died. This is a true story!
